Design Review Committee -2- January 13, 1999
Living Independently, Inc. (Cont'd. )
The interior of the building will consist of a gymnasium, a
game room, an arts and crafts room, computer lab, studies
area, card room and small kitchenette .
The building will be constructed of concrete block in a New-
England style shape with gray vinyl siding and white trim.
Round columns and a canopy will enhance the front; roofing
shingles will be black architectural style.
Exterior plans show a basketball court with sloping lawns on
three sides as well as a future volley ball court and
potential skate park. The basketball court may be flooded and
used as a skating rink in the winter time . Proposed access
ways will allow Type-C buses to drop kids off at a cul-de-sac.
Fifty-eight parking spaces are planned, however, it' s
anticipated only 20-25 cars will be there at one time . Flood
lights will be used in the summer time on the basketball
court; light poles will match those at the Police Dept .
Some small signage will appear off Route 151 . The only sign on
the building will be "Boys' & Girls' Club of Cape Cod and
Kraft Family" which will be back lit-off the building.
Planners anticipate a functional and maintenance-free
landscaping. Plantings will include honey locust, blue
spruce, rugosa rose and native plants . Ms . LeBlanc expressed
concern about the honey locust being too light for the project
and suggested 2;-"to 3"caliper trees be planted. Detailed work
at the entrance will include a fieldstone wall . Bike racks
will be installed.
Respectfully submitted,
Avim-
erce
Recording Secretary
