y
Design Review -2- June 9, 1999
The applicant stated a variance will be sought for the height of the building. The
view of the roof from Route 151 is a concern. Mechanicals will be hidden from the
street. There was concern expressed about the long cap. It was suggested the roof
would look better if it were green instead of gray. Some said the roof looked semi-
industrial and would like to discuss the roof at a later date.
Crosswalks and entrance ways were addressed. It's possible the brickwork on the
buildings may be incorporated into the sidewalks. Measures will be taken to ensure
pedestrian safety.
CVS — The drive-up function of CVS will be eliminated; convenience parking will be
available. The applicant noted the building is a vertical, simple, but dignified 10,000
sq. ft. building. Daylight will be allowed in through upper windows in some portions
of the building. The designers have created a barn-like appearance. One participant
expressed concern regarding the industrial, old mill, warehouse appearance of this
building. There are reservations about the building extending to the sidewalk.
Suggestions included a garden wall, Boston ivy, green ivy, lattice panel, raised
planters, and trellises. This matter will be addressed at a later date.
Conceptually, everything met with approval.
Adjournment: 7:30 p.m.
Jane A. Pierce
Recording Secretary
