TOWN OF MASHPEE
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
February 9, 2000
The Design Review Committee met at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2000
in Room 3 of Mashpee Town Hall.
Committee Members Present: William Hauck, Ex Officio; Ed Govoni, Chairman;
Mary LeBlanc, and Thomas F. O'Hara.
1. Woman's Body Shop, 502 Main Street- Sign
In the absence of a representative from the Woman's Body Shop, the proposed sign
change was briefly discussed. The color change to black and white did not meet
with approval. It was agreed the sign should stay the same size, color scheme and
shape as previously existed.
2. Mashpee Industrial Park, 89-Industrial Drive — Open Storage of Pipes
Mr. Ted Barnicle and Atty. Brian Garner displayed plans for a wholesale supply yard
for the open storage of various non-hazardous materials such as pipes, hydrants
and fittings. The pipes will be 20 ft. lengths and two fork lifts with beepers will be
utilized. A Special Permit will be required. The planned hours of operation are from
7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A major concern is the need for a strong landscaping and sound buffer between this
lot and the residential property in the rear. A 50 ft. buffer zone was suggested.
Parking spaces are adequate.
The 8 ft. stockade fence will be moved in off the property line. Arborvitaes will be
larger than the ones specified (larger than 3-4 ft.). A native mix of cedars, white
pines, red pines, and spruce will be used to camouflage the stockade fence and
create a very strong buffer in the rear.
The applicant agreed to bring in a revised plan.
Mary LeBlanc stepped down.
