TOWN OF MASHPEE TOM OF MASHPEE
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
UU JUN 15 PH 1.- 3 3
May 24, 2000
The Design Review Committee met at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2000 in
Room 3 of Mashpee Town Hall.
Committee Members Present: William Hauck, Ex Officio; Ed Govoni, Chairman; Thomas
F. O'Hara, and Walter Yarosh.
1. Canal Auto Body, 64 Algonguin Ave._ Site and Landscaping
Atty. Robert Mills, Messrs. Russo, Doyle and Luff displayed new plans for the site,
consisting of two adjoining lots. An asphalt roof is planned for the building, two feet
have been taken off the doors, and Building 1 is slightly smaller than previously planned.
Fascia boards of V x 8 ' will be installed on four sides of the building.
Siding color will be almond, trim will be cream colored. No signage will be displayed on
the building. Lighting will illuminate only the courtyard.
No outside salvage storage will be allowed. Mr. Russo said parts will be disposed of on
a weekly basis. Future tenants will be use-related.
It was suggested an engineering plan be submitted to the Board of Health.
Concern was expressed regarding the elimination of landscaping. It was suggested to
combine some of the piping in order to preserve foliage. Perhaps the water could be
piped through the first building to the second building. The Board of Health needs to
review this with the Design Review's comments. If trees are removed they must be
replaced with the same type and size. All the 6' — T white pines should remain. Three
additional trees will be added to the center aisle. A 20 ft. buffer should be provided
around the perimeter on three sides. This should be stated on the plan; it does not have
to'be a condition.
Mr. Haney and several neighbors spoke in opposition to the proposed plan. They
requested the Design Review Committee recommend the Cape Cod Commission review
the plan.
It was suggested this type situation should be taken up at town meeting.
The building met the criteria of the Design Review Committee. The applicants do not
need to return if the Board of Health approves this revised plan.
