Town. q
aspee
16 Great Neck Road North
Maslipee, Massachusetts 02649
I
i
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JUNE 23, 2000
The Design Review Committee met at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2000
in Room 3 of Mashpee Town Hall.
Committee members present: William Hauck, Ex Officio; Ed Govoni, Chairman;
Thomas F. O'Hara. Also present: Russ Wheeler.
Signs
1. 375 Nathan Ellis Hi hwa - Cormier's Automotive Repair Service
The applicant Cormier informs the shape of the sign has been changed from a
previously approved round shape to a square shape sign. The sign was
originally intended to be located on Route 151, but there are a number of trees
blocking the view. Currently there is a temporary sign located on the street.
The Committee informs the applicant Cormier that the sign should be located on
its property, and that a special off-premises sign permit would have to be
obtained through the Selectmen's Office. The trees fronting Route 151 are in a
right of way owned by the state, and the applicant, technically, is not allowed to
cut them. Some selective pruning of dead tree limbs might be allowed, but not
a clear cut. Perhaps a sign placed on the roof of the building would be visible
from Route 151.
When the applicant Cormier files with the Selectmen's Office for the off-premises
sign permit, all property lines will have to be clearly shown. If the permit is
granted by the Selectmen's Office, there is no need for the applicant to return to
the Design Review Committee.
