Fawn of Mashpee
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DECEMBER 13, 2000
The Design Review Committee met at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13,
2000 in Mashpee Town Hall.
Committee members present; Walter Yarosh; Thomas F. O'Hara; Mary LeBlanc;
Bob Nelson. Also present: William Hauck, Russ Wheeler.
Site and Plan Review
1. Mobil Gas Station — 414 Nathan Ellis Hi2hway
Proponent represented by professional engineer Kevin Labarone, and also Doug
Murphy. The site of former Shell gas station is C2 commercial zoned, comprising
36,700' sq. ft. The underground gas storage tanks have been removed, as well
as all signs. The existing building is 2,200' sq. ft. block construction, wood-
framed. The front half of the lot is paved, with two vegetated areas at the side.
There are two existing curb cuts on Route 151.
In Phase 1, the plan is to temporarily reopen as a gas station, with two gas
pump islands, and the existing building will remain, in the similar layout as
former Shell station. In Phase 2, the plan is to remove current building and
rebuild as large convenience store mart further back on lot and with a different
gasoline- dispensing configuration. A drive-through lane will be added around
the back of building to facilitate deliveries and avoid backup; back area of lot is
undeveloped. The proponent Mobil has met previously with the building
inspector, technical review and conservation; and Phase 2 is currently in Board of
Appeals.
