Town of Mashpee
16 Great Neck Race North
Marslipee, Massachusetts 02649
DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF FERRUARY 14, 2001
The Design Review Committee met at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14,
2001 in Mashpee Town Hall.
Committee members present: Walter Yarosh; Thomas F. O'Hara; Mary LeBlanc;
Fred Borgeson. Also present: Russ Wheeler.
Plan Review
1. Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home — 74 Algonquin Avenue
Mary LeBlanc steps down from committee to present landscaping plan for
proponent. The site is at Algonquin Avenue and Route 151; this is a paper road,
not defined. The lot is 89,000 sq. ft., containing wetland. The building will be
of traditional design, with gables, low profile, and big footprint of 40,135 sq. ft.
The exterior is vinyl siding, white trim, with black lattice. The roof will be
architect shingles. The foundation is a slab construction, no basement. There is
a garage, with standard parking and handicap access. The buffer is 50' back
from Route 151, and a 50' construction setback from wetland.
There is no planned signage on the building itself; signage on buildings is
allowed on Route 151. The plan proposes a 20' sq. ft. i.d. sign facing on Route
151. The proponent may petition Board of Appeals for larger sign as part of
variance. One freestanding entrance sign, of 6' sq. ft., is allowed. Site lighting
is not selected yet; pole lighting will be needed in parking area, not outside
boundary. There will be ground lighting facing building, and also foot candle
lighting.
