KenMark Project
340 Main Street
M Shane Construction for revised 5sitgrading and landscape lan
Kevin Kirrane,Tom McShane,Richard Claytor, and Jim Aalto were present. Tom McShane began by saying that based on work they
feel that dropping the grade in the back corner would provide some base and continuity with the slope. Tom O'Hara responded that
the Committee reviewed it thoroughly and does not see any need for change. Tom O'Hara showed photographs he took at the site and
said by reducing 5 feet the residential neighbors end up looking at the top of a building. There followed very lengthy discussion and
some of the issues raised included the following:
• According to Mr.McShane those who work the site and try to get machinery in there feel this proposed plan is better.
Revised plan also makes construction work area safer because they can't get machine in clearing area.
• Tom O'Hara asked if they put in another stone wall wouldn't that work. Response: No, sand not stable enough.
• Mr. McShane said they want to vegetate and make it look nicer.
• Problem: Severity of slope and instability of the sand.
• Tom Jalowy pointed out that the approved landscape plan appears to have a lot more planting than the revised December 12
plan shows. Applicant will provide a new landscape sketch.
• Tom O'Hara showed photo of front corner stone wall. Mr.McShane said they could address that and make it look better.
0 Tom Fudala mentioned Charles Rowley's January 17,2007 letter and concern about how stones were placed, etc. A copy of
this letter is attached to the printed set of these minutes.
• Richard Claytor also explained grade on 40B side.
• Tom Fudala said he visited the site today and he feels we can do a lot better with the re-grading.
• Tom Fudala noted that change in Plan eliminates one parking space, but they still have required parking because they had one
extra.
• Questioned raised: What about 6-foot wall? Tom McShane said"no"wall should not be more than 4 feet.
• Tom McShane asked are you asking to save the Oak trees at the top at all costs? Tom O'Hara responded that not looking to
save those trees if they can't be saved, but looking to replace them.
Conclusion: Consensus was reached that no major changes but some re-grade adjustments are necessary to allow machine in
to stabilize the banlr. Tom O'Hara and Tom Jalowy will do site visit and make recommendation on how to proceed.
Applicant will get another landscape plan to Design Review for review.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes of November 9,2006 were approved.
Adiournment,..Meeting was adjourned at 11:02 a.m.
Res ectfully submitted,
e Giliberti .
rding Secretary
n
