101 Red Brook Road
Fire Station#2
Applicant: Durland Van Voorhis Architect
Architect Debbie Durland,Rick Pomroy,Project Manager, Fire Chief Baker, and Steve Cook,
Chairman of Planning and Construction Committee, appeared. Rick Pomroy addressed the
committee saying they are currently nearly 90% way through with the design plans and will be
going out to bid in October. The Plans were reviewed and discussion included the following:
• Board of Health will review water use plans and when approved will go to DER
• Catherine advised there is no landscape plan because we're waiting to see funding first.
• Design Review noted there is not much space at back to maneuver truck and asked why is
it so tight when you have the land? Rick Pomroy said he will meet with the site engineer
and look at radius again.
• Walter Yarosh asked whether or not the half-round louver vent could be changed to a
circle. Debbie Durland responded that she would change one and delete others rather than
changing to circle.
• What about shutters in front since it is in a residential area? Response was that they want
it to look like the main fire station and it doesn't have shutters.
• Living quarters are sprinkled; bay area is not.
Conclusion: Loops great.
