I
F 1.3 Material
P. 1.3.1 Steel
The main steelwork is composed primarily of 3" and 3-1/2" diameter round steel
tubing. Most tubing is purchased to ASTM A500B specification with a minimum yield
strength of not less than 50,000 pounds. The steelwork is either pre-galvanized or
hot dip galvanized to ASTM A123 after fabrication to provide corrosion protection.
Primary Member Sizes Table
Diameter Thickness Min. PVC coated polyester. The fabric has a thickness of
28 mils, a tensile strength of 285 poundsrnch, and a tear resistance strength of 130
pounds. The fabric is treated with chemicals to resist degradation by ultraviolet light
and also to be flame retardant and is self-extinguishing in accordance with NFPA701
and applicable Federal Standards. The roof is usually a white translucent and the
walls are of various opaque colors.
P 1.3.3 Hardware
The primary structural members fasten together using a combination of clevis pins
and bolts at apex locations. Pins and bolts are high strength and plated to resist
corrosion.
