Soverei2 n Bank LcontinuedI
Concluding the discussion, Don Megathlin stated that the Planning Board did not feel it was necessary to
hold a public hearing on the bank building site proposal. In this case there are really no abutters except
Peters Insurance and Don is going to meet with them next Friday but doesn't see any problem since they
are very cooperative.
The Committee suggested that the bank building be moved back and that for safety concerns the pedestrian
path from the new parking lot be added to cross in front of Marshall's rather than trying to cross at the
corner of Commercial and Charles Streets. Tom Fudala will research moving the building back; Don
Megathlin will consider impacts of adding crossing path in front of Marshall's.
Because extending sidewalk on Route 28 would require permit from Mass Highway Authority, Don
Megathlin indicated they would not consider doing that because they want to move this project along
without delay.
Sheldon Hamblin pointed out that although sprinklers not required for building this size, Fire Department
highly recommends sprinklers since this is a commercial building. Don Megathlin said they would rely on
what the architect says. Right now they don't have sprinklers, but have a fire alarm system.
Walter Yarosh repeated that Design Review would like to see the building moved 8 to 9 feet and that
would give them more room at the corner;moving helps the grades; improves the intersection; and gives
more area at the aisle to the drive through.
ACTION ITEMS
i. Don Megathlin will coordinate handicap-parking issues with Charlie Maintanis.
2. Tom Fudala will research moving the building back and also how far back building can be moved.
3. Matt Eddy will look at front landing and stairs to be certain they will meet setback requirements.
However, Matt did state that although it is tight it meets code and it is functional.
4. Sheldon Hamblin would like to look at landscape plan to verify there is no mulch around buildings
because that is a fire hazard and mulch has created a lot of fires at South Cape Village this past
summer.
5. Don Megathlin indicated their engineers would contact and meet with the Fire Department
regarding the fire protection system for the building.
Approval of Minutes...The Minutes of September 27, 2007 were approved.
Next Meeft...Thursday, November 8,2007. 8:30 a.m. —Design Review for signage review;and 9 a.m.
—Plan Review/Design Review joint meeting for site review.
Meeting adjourned at 10:35 am.
Giliberti
ecording Secretary
