Discussion
Shelddh Hamblin mentioned to the Committee that the fire at the Peabody apartment complex was caused by
somebody throwing a cigarette in the mulch; it caught fire; and burned right up the side of the building to the
roof. He said at the State level they are looking at revising sprinkler code for that size building. In addition,
some of the communities will be revising their fire code rules so that it will not be allowed to place mulch up
against commercial buildings. Sheldon said Mashpee is working on revising code to reflect this. The new code
for Mashpee will definitely cover new construction; and they will look at whether or not it should apply to
existing buildings as well.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
Je Giliberti
e ording Secretary
2
