I
Starfish Restaurant (continued)
In reviewing the.proposed 2 signs to be attached to the building, the following comments/issues were
discussed:
• Sign would be better if it were picture-framed out; it's too stark against the building.
• Suggestions: outline lettering; outline logo; perhaps make background a sand color.
Blue/black or dark blue trim. Perhaps shadowing on the lettering. Or shadowing on alternating
letters.
CONCLUSION: Mr. Hayes to do calculations on front wall. He gets 10% of that wall for total
signage and not more than 5% on the wall. Mr. Hayes said he will re-do signs and come back
with revised signage for review.
Landscape and Sign
I
I
160 Falmouth Road
Jim Crocker
Landscape Chan
Jim Crocker and Bruce Besse appeared. Mr. Besse said the site is the medical building on Route 28.
He said in 2002 one plan was approved for the medical building under construction now; and in 2006
another submission was approved for a second building located on the adjacent lot. Mr. Besse said
they are here to coordinate some of the issues. He said what they would like to do is go through the
original landscape plant lists and propose some variations. He said the scope of work goes beyond
what was approved; they want to minimize some of the plantings and re-rase in the first lot and that is
in everyone's best interests.
Mr. Besse provided the Committee with a-memo-dated-.May-25,-201-0 with-proposed-revisions- — --
attached. These are attached to the printed set of these minutes. The proposed revisions were
reviewed and discussed in detail. Mr. Besse said they are trying to coordinate on the first lot and do it
once. He said if this Board approves these revisions, then that allows them to alter and rearrange
plantings as a benefit to the first lot. As to parking, each lot has enough parking independently.
Tom O'Hara pointed out that it was difficult following their presentation because the plans on file do
not match up to what was finally built.
Signage..Mr. Crocker presented a ladder sign for approval. He said it is 8X4-1/2 inside 8X8 posts.
He said they will probably use CellTech...will be navy blue or bluelgold with white letters. Planting
underneath signage will be designed by Bruce Besse. Mr. Crocker said signage on the building will
be submitted later for review and approval. The ladder sign will be at the entrance location.
CONCLUSIONS:
I
• Better plans needed; need as-built set of plans.
• Tom Jalowy, Tom O'Hara and Richard Steven will do a site visit.
• Reduction in handicap accessibility. Mr. Crocker said that is because there is only one
entrance. .
• Bob Nelson cautioned Mr. Besse to keep screening far away from the transformer pad
to enable easy access to the transformer. Mr. Besse said they will do that.
• Ladder sign at entrance approved, but signage and location not approved.
2
