PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> . MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> MINUTES OF MAY 24, 1982 <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present: Robert Sullivan, Chairman, <br /> Caroline Gilligan, John Peters and Curtis Woodbury. <br /> Chairman Sullivan called the meeting to order. at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Minutes of April 26 and April 30 <br /> A motion was made by Caroline Gilligan to accept the Personnel Board minutes of <br /> April 26 and April 30, 1982. Bob Sullivan seconded the motion. All were in favor. <br /> Advertising for Appeals Board Secretary <br /> Approval was given by the Personnel Board for the secretary to advertise for the <br /> Board Secretarial vacancy on the Appeals Board,. It was recommended that interviews <br /> be set up for the Personnel Board's next meeting on June 7. <br /> Superintendent of Streets Resignation - <br /> A letter of resignation dated May 10 was received from Walter Jacobsen, Superintendent <br /> of Streets. The termination of his employment with the Town will be as of. June 18. <br /> A memo dated May 13 from the Board of Selectmen/Executive Secretary regarding the.ad- <br /> vertising of the Superintendent of Streets position was read into the minutes. The <br /> request was not to advertise until a job description was prepared. Bob Sullivan asked <br /> the secretary to send a memo to the Executive Secretary asking why the Selectmen's• of- <br /> fice is drawing up the job description on the Superinterden•.t- of Streets. <br /> Substitute Lifeguard and Permanent Lifeguard <br /> Recommendations for the positions. of Substitute Lifeguards and Permanent Lifeguard <br /> were received from Wendy Rubin, Recreation Dept. The' Personnel Board concurred with <br /> Wendy's recommendations that Brian Fortin be appointed as a permanent lifeguard to re- <br /> place Karen Hickey (who resigned) and that Joseph Bernanaconi, Linda Burke, Karen Burke <br /> and Michael Pomer be appointed as` substitute lifeguards. <br /> Request for Vacation Buy-Back <br /> A request dated May 11, 1982,' was received from Vernon Thomas to have the town buy- <br /> back five days vacation. The Board reviewed Article 17, Injury Leave, of the Police <br /> Contract. They also reviewed Chapter. 41, Section 100 & 111F of the Mass. General Laws. <br /> Bob Sullivan requested the secretary to s6nd'a letter to town council requesting.a <br /> legal ruling as to whether vacation and sick time for a police officer continues -to <br /> accrue or freezes from the date of an acident in which an injury occurred in the line <br /> of duty. <br /> Request to Waive Annual Physical <br /> A memo dated May 24 from Ray Martini requesting the Board to reconsider their vote re- <br /> garding the physical scheduled for him on June _1 as he had recently gone through a. <br /> complete phsyical on March 23,. 1982 at Falmouth Hospital. The secretary was asked by <br /> Bob Sullivan to have Ray secure the records from the Falmouth Hospital. Upon receipt <br /> of the records, the secretary was asked to send them to .Dr. Lewis requesting him to <br /> check over the records to see if we should go into it further. <br /> Another request for Gerald Umina to forgo his annual physical was made by Barbara <br /> Horton, Administrative Secretary at the Police Dept. Mr. Umina had a complete physical <br /> I <br />
