MINUTES OF PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MONDAY, May 10, 1982 <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight's <br /> meeting: Robert Sullivan, Caroline Gilligan, John Peters, and Curtis <br /> Woodbury. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> The first order of business was a request from Bob Sullivan that the secretary <br /> write to the Department of Community Affairs requesting information on salaries <br /> and job titles. <br /> .Several guide books on Personnel were shown to the Board members for their perusal <br /> in which Sel. Thomas felt would be helpful. Also, Sel. Thomas recommended that <br /> the secretary or a member of the Board talk with the Personnel Director from the <br /> town of Barnstable. <br /> Tuition Reimbursement <br /> Geordine Roderick ace-submitted the transcripts from the Cape Cod Community College <br /> showing what courses have been taken to date and which courses have been completed <br /> as per the Personnel Board's request. Miss Roderick would like to be reimbursed <br /> for two courses from the 1981 Fall Semester -- Criminal Theory & Practice and Intern- <br /> ship. The other course taken, Sem. Criminal Justice, was incomplete. An expense <br /> voucher was drawn up and signed by Bob Sullivan pending the receipt of a cancelled <br /> check from Geordine showing proof of payment. <br /> Hiring of New Police Officer <br /> The secretary brought the Board up to, date on the hiring of a new police officer for <br /> the town. Theordore Skirvan has declined to take the job at this time and requested <br /> that it be held in abeyance until August. Chief Frye recommended to the Selectmen <br /> that the second candidate be considered for the job -- Walter Juskiewicz. The <br /> Selectmen, therefore, recommended that Walter Juskiewicz be scheduled to see the <br /> psychologist, Dr. Barry, and a physical examination be done by Dr. Lewis prior to <br /> appointment. <br /> Waiving of Probationary Period for Asst. Town Accountant <br /> In a memo dated May 6, 1982, from the Executive Secretary, the Personnel Board is <br /> asked to refer to a request from the Town Accountant to waive the six-month proba- <br /> tionary period for Barbara Russell, the Asst. Town Accountant. <br /> Curtis Woodbury made the motion to waive the probationary period. Bob Sullivan <br /> seconded the motion. Sohn Peters was in agreement and Caroline Gilligan abstained. <br /> The secretary was asked to send a letter to the Selectmen advising them of their <br /> recommendation to waive the probationary period for Barbara Russell pending the com- <br /> pletion of an employee physical examination. <br /> Personnel Vacancy <br /> Curtis Woodbury advised the Board that he might have a candidate to recommend to fill <br /> . the vacancy on the Personnel Board. He told the Board that he has not been in contact <br /> with the individual but would do so upon the approval of the other members. The rest <br /> of the Board were in agreement that Mr. Steven Bache should be contacted by Curtis <br /> and invited to attend a meeting to meet the Board prior to any recommendations. The <br /> secretary was asked to check with the Town Clerk to see that he was a registered voter. <br />
