MINUTES OF PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> • MEETING OF APRIL 26, 1982 <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present at tonight's meeting: Robert <br /> Sullivan, Chairman, Caroline M. Gilligan and Curtis Woodbury. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. <br /> The minutes of April 12, 1982_ were accepted as read and typed. <br /> Resignation of Board Secretary <br /> The resignation ofKaren Hale as Secretary to the- Personnel Board was read into the minutes. <br /> Bob asked that Karen be sent a letter of appreciation for all that she has done for the <br /> Board. The appointment of a new secretary for the Board was discussed. The matter was post- <br /> poned until a later meeting as the budget does not have the funds. <br /> Discussion on Tightening Up Hours <br /> Curtis suggested that this matter be held in abeyance until after election. It was also <br /> suggested that Joe Murphy be asked to attend. <br /> Vacation Days for Employees on Disability <br /> A call was received by the secretary from Barbara Horton regarding employees of the Police <br /> Department out on disability and whether they are allowed to accrue vacation time. The <br /> Board asked that the request be put in writing giving an actual case. <br /> AdkNew Application Forms <br /> The Board looked at the current application form and an example of a different application <br /> form. They felt that the current form was satisfactory provided that a resume was included <br /> for certain jobs. <br /> Reauest for Back-to-Back Personal Da s <br /> Upon the receipt of a memo from-Walter Jacobsen of the Highway Dept. stating that he was <br /> satisfied that his employee, Horace Pocknett, had business to attend to, the request for <br /> back-to-back personal days was approved. <br /> Planning Board Secretary <br /> A memo from Dick Terry advising the Personnel Board that Juanita Williams is no longer their <br /> secretary was read into the minutes. The Planning Board appointed Sandra Peters. The proper <br /> paperwork was typed in order to notify Town Accountant of the starting date and rate of pay. <br /> Cranberry Boq Proposal <br /> The members of the Board were informed of a meeting to be held in the Selectmen's office on <br /> Wednesday, April 28, regarding the proposal to purchase 120 acres in the John's Pond area <br /> including cranberry bogs. <br /> Informational _Report <br /> Bob asked the secretary to type up an informational report on the Town of Mashpee as well as <br /> fringe benefits which the town offers for employees. <br /> —Meeting With Selectmen and Executive Secretary <br /> n starting off the meeting, Selectwoman Thomas mentioned that she had given thought to the <br /> article going before town meeting in reference to the Personnel Board and Board of Selectmen <br /> and the feeling is that there is enough work for two boards. The construction of the Person- <br /> nel Board could include one selectman serving on it and one finance committee member serving <br /> on it to give better communication, to everyone. She pointed out that the problem is communi- <br /> cation and more people need to know what is going on. <br />
