Personnel Board's <br /> Minutes of April 26, 1982 Page 8 <br /> Joe mentioned that the Board has flexibility presently. <br /> Caroline commented that she felt the article should be tabled or postponed indefinitely. <br /> Selectwoman Thomas mentioned that it would be something for the Charter Commission to <br /> look at. <br /> Selectman Garland agreed that the article could be indefinitely postponed. <br /> Caroline stated that she would do that. <br /> Selectwoman Thomas stated that the area still needs to be looked into and by postponing <br /> it doesn't mean that it is not to be thought about again. <br /> Selectman Garland replied that he was not suggesting that it should be forgotten about. <br /> Caroline referred to the Charter Commission stating that she was neutral. <br /> Selectman Garland thought that a lot of people would not know what they were voting for. <br /> Joe mentioned that other communities having gone the route of a Charter Commission were <br /> quite successful. <br /> Selectwoman Thomas said that the Commission would not be in place forever-- about eighteen <br /> months. it would make recommendations and that the Charter Commission might come up with <br /> a lot of ideas. She mentioned that the Government Study Committee is not working out for <br /> the benefit of the town and that they are supposed to be the watch dog for the town. <br /> OCaroline asked who was on the Government Study Committee? <br /> Selectman Garland replied that it was non-functional. <br /> Caroline then asked what they have done. <br /> Selectwoman Thomas replied nothing. <br /> Joe commented that it was a committee appointed by last town meeting and now there is an <br /> article in the warrant to continue the same committee and provide new funds for next year. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 8.50 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Mar �ynFem <br /> Recording Secretary <br /> mf <br /> s <br />
