Personnel Board
Minutes of April 12, 1982 Wage 4
. Bob Sullivan explained that the point was that they did not know where an employee
was if they just went home without reporting to anyone.
Appointment of Interim Fire Chief
A memo dated April 9 was received and read into the minutes whereby the Board of
Selectmen voted to appoint a Interim Fire Chief; that being, Firefighter Bill Chase.
Advertising forMr-e Chief
The secretary requested approval from the Personnel Board to advertis6 for the position
of Fire Chief as she had been requested to do so by the Executive Secretary.
The Personnel Board asked the secretary to send a memo to the Executive Secretary stating
that it was their understanding that the Selectmen would be doing the interviewing for
the Fire Chief's position and that if that were the case, the Personnel Board felt that
the advertising monies should not come out of the Personnel Expense Account.
Request for Back-tx Back Personal Days
. A request was received from Horace Pocknett for two personal days preceeding his vacation
time. As the contract does not state that an employee cannot take back-to-back personal
days, the Board was in somewhat of a delema on whether to approve the request. They did
feel that personal days should not be used to extend vacation time.
The secretary was asked to send a memo apprising the Selectmen of this request as the
Selectmen are in the process of negotiating contracts. The Personnel Board thought that
this was something they might want to consider including in future contracts.
Posting of Meetings
Curtis Woodbury asked the secretary to check with the Town Clerk as to why other Boards
(and not the Personnel Board) have a form letter posted on the bulletin board and signed
by the Chairman stating when their meetings will be held and the time. The secretary in-
formed Curtis that the Personnel Board does post a monthly notice, but that she will check
,into it.
Change of Time of Personnel Meetings
Chairman Sullivan requested that the time of the future Personnel Board meetings be changed
to 6:30 p.m. The secretary will notify the Town Clerk.
Selectmen's Minutes
Carolyn Gilligan mentioned that she still had not received a copy of the Selectmen's
• minutes of March 22 in which they appointed the Town Accountant. The secretary was asked
to send a memo to Grace Erdman asking when Mrs. Gilligan could expect to receive them.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The next Personnel Board meeting will be held on
April 26, 1982.
