Personnel Board's <br /> Minutes of February 8, 1982 Page 3 <br /> 4 <br /> i <br /> • 'Karen Hale replied that shorthand was a form of writing with brief forms and speed <br /> writing was abbreviating and short cuts. She further explains that by taking a <br /> course she would have. the protection of the Union and as soon as the course was <br /> completed successfully, the Board would recommend that she fit that title and we <br /> would state to the Union that all the qualifications were met. Karen mentions <br /> that night school at the Four C's is starting now and 'that Lucy could still get <br /> in. <br /> 4 <br /> Chief Gould stated that he would talk to Lucy and see what could be worked out. <br /> Karen Hale advised the Chief to write a letter stating that Lucy is planning to <br /> take a shorthand course and to state how much it costs and then as soon as the <br /> course has been completed successfully, issue receipts and grades to the Board for <br /> reimbursement. <br /> Curtis Woodbury stated that if she dial not pass the course, it would be a whole new <br /> ballgame. <br /> At this point in the meeting, Chairman Rich stepped out to meet with the Finance <br /> Commi.ttee' to discuss the overall budget in regards to Proposition 01. <br /> . When Chairman Rich returned to the meeting, the general business was discussed. <br /> A letter dated February 3 from Wendy Rubin was received and read into the minutes. <br /> She advised that Board that she will be hiring Thomas Belekewicz, a previous life- <br /> guard, for,the following positions: Men's Basketball Program and Fitness Instructor. <br /> The Board voted to set the rate at $5.00/hr. for the above positions. <br /> Another memorandum was received from Wend Rubin regarding gymnastics instructors. <br /> Y g 9 <br /> She requested that the Board notify the town accountant and treasurer that Amy <br /> Oberg and Bernadette Thompson will be filling the positions of gymnastics instructors <br /> at the rate of $10.00 per hour each for a period of eight weeks, 2 hours a week. <br /> Chairman Rich felt that he could not recommend the rate of $10.00 for any employee. <br /> The Secretary was asked to inform Wendy when hiring positions in the future, the <br /> Personnel Board should be involved in setting the rates. <br /> A memorandum was read into the minutes from the Board of- Selectmen/Executive Secretary <br /> regarding the pay for Mrs. Polka. It advises the Personnel Board that Mrs. Polka will <br /> receive the same rate of pay as the Town Accountant until a new, full-time Town Ac- <br /> countant is appointed as per the Board of Selectmen's meeting of February 3, 1982. <br /> Another memorandum from the Board of Selectmen and Executive Secretary dated February <br /> 4, 1982, was read into the minutes regarding the pay for Burley Green and Oliver and <br /> Horace Pocknett. <br /> A note was received from the Executive Secretary advising the Personnel Board that <br /> Selectwoman Thomas',would'�like to attend the interviews -of the accountant candidates. ' <br /> Job Evaluations.-... .. <br /> The Personnel Board waived 'job' evaluations under,the PV.P. where they were waiting <br /> to see the Clerical Union Contract due to'the fact that'thej( are planning on revising <br /> the P.A.P. , <br />
