Personnel Board Minutes
February 1, 1982 Page 2
Fire Shift Commander
• The rate of Fire Shift Commander has been set at $6.25 per shift as per Board
of Selectmen's meeting on January 25, 1982.
A letter dated January 27 from Chief Gould was read into the minutes. It
stated that the following members of the Fire Department have been assigned the
position of Shift Commander: Paul Frazier (Group 1), David Dottridge (Group 2),
Richard Martini. (Group 3) and Robert Long (Group 4).
Administrative Secretary Position
to the Fire Department
After our last meeting of January 25, the Secretary was asked to write to Chief
Gould about the job description which he submitted for Administrative Secretary
to the Fire Department. Shorthand skills were omitted from the job description
and Chief Gould was asked if this was an oversight on his part. The job descrip-
tion was returned with the additional words: "Shorthand Skills desirable but not
mandatory". The Board decided that they would like to have an overall picture
on this matter and did not vote on any decisions.
Police Officer Position
Applications have been received for the Police Officer position and sent over to
Chief Frye for review.
. A letter dated January 27, 1982, to Chief Frye from the Board of Selectmen was read
into the minutes. The Board of Selectmen do not object to the hiring of a full-
time officer, a special police officer or anyone else who would be required to at-
tend a police academy. The Board supports Chief Frye's decision if he feels that
it is in the best interest of the Town to hire only those individuals who are cer-
tified by the criminal justice training council.
Special Town Meeting
The Board was informed that there will be a Special Town Meeting on Thursday,
February 11 beginning at 7:30 P.M. at the Mashpee Middle School. They were also
informed that there will be a Special Town Meeting in conjunction with the Annual
Town Meeting. Also, a "proposed use" hearing for the use of Revenue Sharing Funds
is set for 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 10.
Permission SliJ2 & EM 1 nt ASMement
A copy of a letter sent to Wendy Rubin from Atty. Reardon was received and read
into the record. In the last paragraph of the letter Atty. Reardon suggests that
the Personnel Board define the category of employee this position will be filled
by who would be using the permission slip and signing the agreement.
The Secretary was asked to contact Atty. Reardon and ask him to define the defini-
tion of the word "category" used in the last paragraph of his setter.
Natural Resource Officer
iA letter to Jim Ames, Natural Resource Officer, from the Board of Selectmen dated
January 27 was read into the Minutes. Mr. Ames was directed to attach to his
weekly pay voucher a daily log of his activities, by time. Also the daily starting
and ending odemeter readings should be included on his log.
