4 <br /> PERSONNEL BOARD MEETING <br /> lMASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> JANUARY 11, 1982 <br /> • S <br /> i <br /> James F. Rich, Chairman, Caroline Gilligan and John Peters were present for the <br /> meeting. <br /> Also present was Joseph Murphy, Executive Secretary. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. <br /> Chief Frye was asked to come in to talk to the Personnel Board about disability <br /> for Special Police. Also,' the retirement program was discussed. <br /> Chief Frye requested that the advertisement for police officer be run again in <br /> the Globe. The Board gave their approval for the Secretary to run the ad again. <br /> The number one candidate for the police position dial not check out satisfactorily. <br /> The number two candidate withdrew his application on January 5, 1982. <br /> At 7:30 P.M., the Fi.reFighter's Union representatives came in to talk to the Board <br /> about Article 9 of the Firefighter's Contract. Richard Martini., David Dottridge <br /> and Mark Lopez attended the meeting. <br /> • Mark Lopez (refering to John Weld's interpretation of the last paragraph 6f Article <br /> 9) asks the Board how he laid it out. <br /> Jim Rich -- told the Union representative that Mr. Weld referred back to his notes. <br /> The interpretation is the way we think the contract reads. <br /> Mark Lopez — reads the last paragraph-from Article 9 of. the Firefighter's Contract. <br /> States that no where in the contract. does it say the first scheduled shift or any- <br /> body that is scheduled to work. It is a legal document. We cannot see where you <br /> can say Mr. Weld's interpretation is right. <br /> Jim Rich — Stated that they felt it was right in their view. The first time that <br /> we met with you regarding-this Article, we were asked to define the word "work". <br /> Mark Lopez — Stated that it was not one of the issues What they were concerned <br /> about were the words:"Half-dads compensation". <br /> At this point in the meeting, the Firefighter representatives stepped out. <br /> Upon their return, Mr. Martini asked the Board if they were saying, if a person is <br /> scheduled to work, he is not going to get paid the additional days holiday pay. <br /> Jim Rich — replied-that the question came up if s_ omebody.was� called in on an am- <br /> bulance call.
