Personnel Board Meeting Minutes of October 24 , 1988 3 Page - 2 The board asked that the position be advertised in hou/iiefor the Skilled Laborer position . D . P _W. - Temporary Help Ernie advised the Board that he has had temporary help in the office for ten hours weekly at the present time and more throughout the summer "mol.riths . The wages are running low ; however it is his intent to request a permanent position at annual town meeting . He commented that he wants people to understand how badly they need help . Ben asked that he make up a job description of what he wants -- part-time or full time and the Board will review it . Ernie mentioned that the idea of having liaison people of the Personnel Board was a good idea . Manny Glickman , who was not present at the meeting when the liaison designees were discussed asked that a sheet be sent to him . George _Costa - Board of Health. George Costa met with the Personnel Board regarding the increase of salaries being asked for at the -special town meeting in November for positions in the Board of Health department . George Costa explained to the Board that when the budget was prepared , they asked for $53 , 614 for the wages and Finance Committee somehow change:";,4the amount being requested to $50 , 331 . He said that there was no money for step increases . They were short $3 ,490 .12 _ After review of the reasons why the increase was being sought , Personnel Board members were satisfied with the explanation . George Costa told the Board that they will be looking for an increase for the Health Agent when he becomes a Sanitarian as he has been taking courses in that area . Interviews for Temporary Help - Bldg . Inspections The Board interviewed candidates for the temporary part-time position in the Building Irispections - Departmenl along with the assistance of Pat White , Administrative Secretary . The Board met with Barbara Brown , Mary Coomey , Cheryl Weaver and Susan Fleming . The rate of pay was discussed with each candidate as well as the hours ( 8 hours weekly ) and job duties . Candidates were asked if they could fill in for a week in November when the Administra- tive Secretary is on vacation . Typing tests were administered prior to the interview , which Board members reviewed . After conclusion of the interviews , the Board members voted unanimously to narrow the selection process down to Barbara Brown , Pat White was in agreement- with the Board ' s vote . Request to Send Semi-Finalists for Psychological Testing and Physical The Board reviewed a memo dated October 19 from Deputy Chief Cooper request- ing that candidates William Paul Bryant and Kevin Redmond be sent for psy- chological testing and medical exam . Board concurred with the request , Temporary Accounting Clerk With reference to the request to fill the temporary accounting clerk ' s posi- tion .full-time , the Accounting Office responded back to the Personnel Board advising them that this would .be a temporary status until the Assistant Ac- countant position was filled and then the temporary person would 'be cut back to part-time .
