Interview of Stephen - McKenna 1 /14/91 <br /> Chairman Sullivan reviewed the salary of the Harbormaster position -- <br /> $16 , 000 annually -- $1 , 500 per month March through December and $500 <br /> per month January and February . Chairman Sullivan explained that the <br /> department consists of three Waterway Assistants plus Asst . Harbor- <br /> masters . Chairman Sullivan noted that Mr . McKenna lived in Harwich . <br /> Mr . McKenna indicated that' he was building a house- in Brewster and <br /> that it would be a 35 'minutes drive (as the house• is near,- the Dennis <br /> exit ) - <br /> Chairman Sullivan explained that the position is less busy during <br /> the winter ; however , the summer months were extremely busy . <br /> Upon review of Mr : McKenna ' s resume , it was noted that he was working <br /> in Boston Harbor Marine Institute and it was closed . They transferred <br /> him to Florida to work at Pinnela Marine Institute . <br /> Mr . McKenna was asked if he travelled inter-coastal waters with his <br /> Captain experience . Mr . McKenna replied that he did travel inter- <br /> coastal waterways many times usually in the Spring and the Fall . He <br /> said that he captained a boat from Bermuda . It was noted that the <br /> candidate was certified as a Lifeguard and held certifications in <br /> Standard First Aid and CPR . <br /> Mr . McKenna was asked if he was familiar with Mashpee? He indicated <br /> that he was and that Mashpee has some real nice areas -- Waquoit Bay <br /> area and Popponesset Bay . He commented that Mashpee is more inland <br /> with their waters . Chairman Sullivan pointed out that there are <br /> fresh waters - John ' s Pond and Mashpee Wakeby . <br /> Discussion centered around whether Mashpee has a marina -- Mr . McKenna <br /> was advised that Mashpee does not have a marina ; however , there is one <br /> in Little River . <br />
