,Fund Raiser <br /> it The profit from the school fundraiser was 53500.00 <br /> Additionally, the school is holding a rate of an 8 pound box of chocolates and 4 donated gift certificates to Cape <br /> Cod Toys for 525.00. Se-far, 5160.00 has been raised. <br /> Blizzard of Books <br /> The subcommittee reported on their progress. Sixth graders have decorated boxes,dyers have been sent out, <br /> notification was included in the newsletter; and the newspapers have been informed Sandy Mchel is making up a <br /> display. The sixth'graders will add titles and authors to snowflakes. A request fibr 5 volunteers to help sort books by <br /> grade level has been sent out On December 21, each class will receive a decorated box of books for their classroom <br /> library. <br /> Media/Public Library Display <br /> Janet Burke, the town children Gbrariatr, has come to talk to classes. Mn. Shackett's class celebrated every child <br /> having a public lrTt►rary card with a sundae parry. <br /> MCAS <br /> All individual scores will be mailed out tomorrow. The school report was better than expected. The lowest scores <br /> were in EnglishiLanguage Arts. The highest scores were in Science/Technology, the best of all three elementary <br /> school. Scores were on target in Math. <br /> There will be a discussion of results January, 14, 1999 at the high school for parents of srudents in grade 4,3,10 and <br /> 5,8, and 11. <br /> School Improvement Goals <br /> There was a discussion of implementation of the goals. <br /> Reading goal- still to do <br /> • Involve business commurriry in schooi,,vide reading incentive, deed to consult new sure-v tendent and school <br /> committee on their policy regarding this. <br /> • Writing age appropriate stories <br /> • Resource packet <br /> • Grant writing to increase classroom sets of literature <br /> • Evening story hour-this has been done for Kindergarten <br /> • Reading incentive,grant <br /> • Develop outlining stalls <br /> ✓Math goal <br /> • Working on developing resource packet of math incentive programs. will include =rase z: -,-fossar,r of math <br /> terms. <br /> • Family math papers-mostly K-3, will expand to upper grades <br /> • Purchase .and utilize math software <br /> Will discuss next three goals at next meeting. <br /> Snack Polity <br /> There was a su2sestion to reinforce in the newsletter that snacks need to be healthy. <br /> Next meeting T-hursday, Januar, 71.1999, b:30-8:00 in the teacher lounge. <br /> Kathy Penney moved to adjourn the mee mg.
