Developing a School Improvement Plan for'99-'00 was discussed. Goals would <br /> address reading, writing, math, safety, and a school parent group. Subcommittees were <br /> formed to put the plan together. Responsibilities for writing the plan and its submission <br /> at the November meeting are as follows: <br /> Goal Persons Res onsible <br /> Reading Lauretta Leone <br /> Kathleen Penny <br /> Safety Louise Doyle <br /> Maureen Hall <br /> Alyce Shadan <br /> Writing Joanne McConnell <br /> Lucinda McKay <br /> Kathleen Penny <br /> Math Dorene Goldstein <br /> Angela Luna <br /> Parent Group Louise Doyle <br /> Corrie Green <br /> Two other issues were discussed. There has been an establishment of a third <br /> section of the grade 4 class using a Class Size Reduction Grant. Quashnet River School <br /> was granted a state waiver as the CSR grant was specifically geared for early elementary <br /> education for grades 1-3. The new class would begin on October 25, 1999. Also, the <br /> School Council manual was distributed (Questions & Answers). Members were asked by <br /> Mrs.Doyle to read and familiarize themselves with the focus and function of a School . <br /> Council and its responsibilities. <br /> All members were directed to keep all agendas,printed information, minutes, <br /> articles of interest, etc. in a specific School Council folder and to bring such to all <br /> subsequent meetings. <br /> Samples of the previous School Improvement Plan were disseminated to all <br /> members as a model in writing the new school plan for the November 17"' meeting. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 8:25pm. Vote by Lucinda McKay. Seconded by <br /> Lauretta Leone. <br /> Unanimous <br />
