PTO-Homeroom Parents
• Parents have volunteered to help with book orders, class functions, etc.
• Since the budget is $0, the PTO wanted to do a fundraiser. March will be "Pocketful
of Change". A plastic bag with a pocket on it will be sent home everyday with the
child to be returned to the classroom every morning -will be sent home on February
281h and go until March 16th. Prize will be given at Math Night for grade level with
the most change.
• Family Literacy Night April6th.
• In May possibly there will be a Family Picnic.
• Sometime late in June classroom pizza luncheons will be provided.
All depends on how much money is raised during fundraising.
Budget Update
• Last meeting (February 71h) was very positive.
• Bottom line hasn't been determined(13.8 million possible amount)
• If money comes from State it will add another $600,000 to the school budget.
• We were challenged on "Band-aiding" the budget, a long-term plan is still needed.
Professional Development Days
• Possibly have 2 full days at the beginning of the year for meetings and still have the 1
extra day at the end.
• The other days could be used for "professional" days like course trainings or
whatever the school's goals are for the year(i.e. writing, math, safety, etc.)
MCAL Meetings
• Homework is a real issue, sometimes too time consuming and lives are very full these
days.
• Possibly concentrate on one subject each night.
• Discussions will continue in hopes of coming up with rubrics to create some
continuity among the grade levels.
