The anticipation is to start marketing in <br /> January. <br /> • Local Preference Policy Update <br /> o Third request submitted for local preference <br /> o Previous requests: December 2022/January 2023 and August 4, 2023 <br /> o State rejected Tribal preference set aside due to fair housing law compliance <br /> o New request: 70% local preference for current Mashpee residents (27 out of 39 <br /> units) <br /> o Veteran's preference removed due to lack of substantiation <br /> o Frustration with the state's slow response and inability to approve conditionally <br /> o Hope for quick approval from Housing and Livable Communities <br /> • Collaboration with the Wampanoag Tribe <br /> o Recent meeting with Tribe's House Commission chair <br /> o Goal to ensure qualified Tribal members submit applications <br /> o Possible turnover in Tribe's Housing Department director(unconfirmed) <br /> • Alternative Approach for Special Groups <br /> o Opportunity for veterans and Tribal members to apply through a lottery <br /> o Encouragement for these groups to apply in large numbers <br /> o Indirect way to increase representation, though not guaranteed <br /> o Commitment to continuing pursuing a preferential policy <br /> 2. 209 Old Barnstable Road: The town manager is reviewing consultant proposals for a <br /> traffic study received in response to the RFQ.
