6 <br /> Select Board <br /> Minutes <br /> March 10, 2025 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Update and Schematic Plans for New Police Station: <br /> Town Manager Rodney C. Collins presented a schematic of the New Police Station; 19 Frank Hicks Drive, <br /> Mashpee. Funding was re-authorized at the May 2024 Annual Town Meeting for design and engineering. <br /> Construction funding is requested through the CIP Committee in the amount of$37,150,000 based on the <br /> conceptual design. An article is planned for the May 2025 Annual Town Meeting warrant for this purpose. <br /> A public informational session is scheduled on April 10, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in the Waquoit Meeting Room at <br /> the Mashpee Town Hall to present the plans and to answer any questions regarding the project. The meeting <br /> will also be recorded and televised. <br /> Discussion of Proposed Select Board Letter of Support of An Act Relative to a Refundable Title 5 Septic <br /> Tax Credit: <br /> Correspondence received from Representative David Vieira dated March 11, 2025 requesting support for <br /> "An Act Relative to a Refundable Title 5 Septic Tax Credit." For informational purposes, the letter was read <br /> aloud into the record. <br /> The bill is intended to make the existing Septic Tax Credit under MGL refundable against state income <br /> taxes. The legislative change would allow the credit to be applied to septic system upgrades in nitrogen- <br /> sensitive areas as defined by watershed permits under Title 5 of the State Environmental Code granting a <br /> maximum credit of$4,000 annually, a total of$18,000 over six years. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Wyman-Colombo to approve the draft letter in support of advancing the <br /> "Act Relative to a Refundable Title 5 Septic Tax Credit." <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: 4-0. Unanimous. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Weeden,yes <br /> Selectman Wyman-Colombo,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes Opposed, none <br /> It was agreed that an additional letter would be drafted to encourage tax credits for those residents who are <br /> impacted in phosphorus-rich areas. <br />
