I <br /> i <br /> 12.2 The Board of Appeals shall organize annually at the <br /> meeting next following July 1st by the election of a <br /> chairman and a clerk from within its own membership, <br /> and may, subject to appropriation, employ experts and <br /> clerical and other assistants. <br /> 12.3 The Chairman of the Board of Appeals may designate <br /> any associate member to sit on the board in case of <br /> absence, inability to act or conflict or interest on the <br /> part of any member thereof or in the event of a va- <br /> cancy on the board until said vacancy is filled by <br /> action of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> 12.4 Any member or associate member of the Board of <br /> Appeals may be removed for cause by the Board of <br /> Selectmen but only after written charges have been <br /> made and delivered to the member and a public hear- <br /> ing has been held. <br /> 12.5 The Board of Appeals shall have and exercise the pow- <br /> ers specifically granted by the General Laws of the <br /> Commonwealth and those powers granted in this Zon- <br /> ing By-Law which are not inconsistent with the afore- <br /> said General Laws. <br /> 12.6 The Board of Appeals shall have the power to author- <br /> ize a use or activity not otherwise permitted in the <br /> district in which the land or structure is located, but <br /> only upon the application of the standards set forth in <br /> the General Laws of the Commonwealth for the grant <br /> of a variance. <br /> ' I <br /> SECTION 13: ZONING AMENDMENTS <br /> 13.1 Any person desiring a zoning amendment shall propose <br /> it in writing to the Selectmen for insertion in the war- <br /> rant of a town meeting, regular or special. <br /> 13.2 If geographic change of a zoning boundary description <br /> be proposed, words of boundary description change for <br /> insertion in the warrant shall be accompanied by a <br /> brief written statement of the nature, extent and lo- <br /> ,mtion in the town of the zoning map change proposed, <br /> together with three blackline prints of a diagram to <br /> 49 <br />
