On either side of the finished pavement there shall <br /> '+ be provided shoulders, not less than two feet wide, <br /> t constructed of road base material, properly shaped '! <br /> and compacted. The slope of the shoulders away <br /> from the center line shall be no greater than two <br /> inches per foot. <br /> 5b. When the longitudinal slope of the road is 3110 or <br /> more, berms twelve inches wide will be required on <br /> both sides of the roadway. In such cases, the berm <br /> will take the place of the two foot shoulder described <br /> in 5a. Where berms are required, the road surface <br /> shall be expanded to twenty-two feet and the berms j <br /> placed thereon, <br /> 6. The areas between the finished surface and the outer <br /> boundaries of the layout shall be cleared of all brush, f: <br /> stumps, debris and all trees or shrubs not suitable for <br /> i, <br /> retention for shade or ornamental purposes. !r <br /> 7. The slopes of any cuts and fills required in the con- <br /> struction of the roadway shall not be greater than <br /> two feet horizontal to one foot vertical and shall be <br /> properly seeded and protected to prevent erosion. The (. <br /> foot of the slope of any cut and the top of the slope " <br /> of any fill shall not be nearer than four feet to the L h <br /> edge of the finished surface of the roadway. <br /> 8. Storm drains shall be designed using a storm inten- <br /> sity of 1.40 inches of rain per hour and a storm dura- <br /> ~" tion of one and one-half hours. Road areas should <br /> be considered 100.010 impervious with all the other land <br /> area within the water shed area considered 4096 im- <br /> pervious. The storm drainage system may consist of <br /> precast leaching catch basins with stone backfill, the <br /> s <br /> catch basins to be connected by drain pipe of at least <br /> ten-inch diameter. Adequate disposal of surface ` <br /> water shall be provided. Leaching catch basins shall <br /> 1 ,!1 <br />
