i <br /> inactive for a period of one year. Fees for all sign permits <br /> shall be as the Board of Selectmen may, from time to time, <br /> determine. <br /> 2. The following types of signs shall be authorized by <br /> right, without the necessity of a permit therefor. <br /> a) Signs bearing the name of the occupant of a dwelling, <br /> not to exceed two square feet in area. If the occupant <br /> is engaged in a profession, the sign may also display <br /> a word or words indicating such profession. <br /> b) Signs offering accommodations for guests, not to ex- <br /> ceed two square feet in area. <br /> c) Real estate signs, not to exceed six square feet in area; <br /> such signs shall be removed forthwith upon sale or <br /> rental of the premises advertised. <br /> rt <br /> d) Signs accessory to the use of the premises by a relig- <br /> ious or educational institution, or by a governmental <br /> authority, not to exceed ten square feet in area. <br /> e) Signs prohibiting trespass, hunting, and the like, and <br /> signs warning of danger, such as "High Voltage", not <br /> to exceed one square foot in area. <br /> f) Street name signs, and signs erected by the Town, <br /> County or Commonwealth for the direction and con- <br /> trol of traffic. <br /> g) Window signs, however, the total area of such signs <br /> shall not be greater than 25% of the area of the win- <br /> dow through which they are to be viewed. Window <br /> signs exceeding this area limitation are expressly pro- <br /> hibited. , <br /> h) Signs on or adjacent to the entry of a multiple oc- <br /> cupancy building listing the names and/or occupations <br /> of the occupants thereof, provided that the size of <br /> such sign shall not exceed one square foot for each <br /> occupant. <br /> i) Signs designating historical places or :points of inter- <br /> est, erected by governmental authority or by a duly <br /> chartered historical association, or,the like, not to ex- <br /> ceed six square feet in area. <br /> j) Signs indicating "Entrance", "Exit", "Parking", or the <br /> like, erected on a premises for the direction of persons <br /> or vehicles, not to exceed two square feet in area. <br /> C. Maintenance I �� <br /> All signs, whether erected prior to the effective date of <br /> this Article or not, and whether a permit is required or not, <br /> shall be maintained in a safe and neat condition to the , <br /> satisfaction of the Building Inspector.
