Article 45 : <br /> To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer/Tax Collector to enter <br /> into compensating balance agreements during fiscal 1988 . as permitted <br /> by General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53F. <br /> Motion to accept as printed. . . . . . .motion carries. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .8:45 P.M. <br /> This article would authorize the Treasurer/Collector <br /> to place money in a bank to earn credits for specific <br /> services the bank _provides the Town. This was authorized <br /> at the 1986 Annual Town Meeting but the State requires <br /> such authorization to be provided annually. <br /> Article 46 : <br /> To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $2, 000 to pur- <br /> chase a radar system (speed detector ) for the Police Department, <br /> Motion to raise and appropriate $2000. motion carries. . . . . . . .8:46 P.M. <br /> Presently, the Police Department has two highway safety <br /> cruisers each equipped with a radar unit. One radar <br /> unit was purchased in 1983 . This Article is requesting <br /> funds to replace the 1979 unit with a newer , more ad- <br /> vanced and reliable unit. The 1979 unit, because of <br /> age, has been in constant need of costly repairs. <br /> Article 47 : <br /> To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chapter 40 , <br /> Section 8G of the Massachusetts General Laws. <br /> Motion to accept as printed . . . . .motion carries. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .8:46 P.IA. <br /> Passage of this Article would authorize the Police <br /> Department to enter into a written agreement (s) <br /> with adjoining police agencies in augmenting certain <br /> police resources in the areas of patrol operations, <br /> traffic safety, criminal investigations, and other <br /> support services. <br /> -44- <br />
