approved to begin the project, with the second
portion of the funding to be done at a Fall, 1986
meeting. That was not done, and the moneys for
completion of the study, which would determine
the causes of high levels of coliform bacteria
now found in the rivers and bay (resulting in
shellfish closures) and specify necessary steps
solve the problem, are now desparately needed.
Article 53 :
To see if the Town will vote to accept the layout and definition of a
portion of Great Hay Road with boundaries and measurements as shown on
a plan on file with the Town Clerk, said plan being dated November 18,
1986 and entitled "Ramon Estates, Plan of Land in Mashpee, Mass. for
Rogers & Marney, Inc. , " and having been drawn by Baxter & Nye, Inc. ,
Registered Land Surveyors & Civil Engineers, Qsterville, Mass. at a
scale of 1"=1001 , and further to authorize and instruct the Selectmen
to take by eminent domain or otherwise acquire on behalf of the Town
of Mashpee the land, or an interest in the land, within the sidelines
of the said layout and further that said acceptance shall not be
valid, and no such land or interest in land may be acquired, until all
roadway improvements required by the Subdivision Rules and Regulations
and by the Planning Board in its approval of the Definitive Plan of
said "Ramor Estates" have been completed ,=.nd all convenants and other
performance guarantees regarding said roadway have heen released by
the Planning Board,
Motion to accept as printed . . . . . . .motion carries. . . . . . . . .
Unanimous vote. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .9: 10 P.M.
This article seeks to lay out and accept a portion
of Great Hay Road, just south of its intersection
with Great Neck Road South, as a Town road. The pro-
posed layout is 50 feet wide and approximately 600
feet long and lies entirely on land owned by Rogers &
Marney, Inc. , who have agreed to transfer the layout to
the Town at no cost . This section of roadway would be
an extension of a 1969 Town layout and would relocate
slightly the existing unpaved Great Hay Road, which is
a road used by the public but never formally accepted
or laid out as a Town way. The locus of this relocated
roadway is shown on the map of the Town on the next page.
Article 54 :
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $20 ,000 to be .
used to obtain engineering services related to the layout and design
-47-
