Town of Mashpee Sewer Commission <br /> t <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> Public Comment <br /> Susan Dangle, 762 Cotuit Rd. commented about the date of the next meeting vs.when this system <br /> starts.The website communication is cumbersome. Requested a ZOOM or public meeting for Phase 1 <br /> residents and recommended an additional meeting before May 20, 2025, meeting. Mr. Meader added <br /> that there is a booklet that will be available on the website with information for homeowners, including <br /> financial assistance. Chair Harris asked if the Commissioner's would be able to go back to a two- <br /> meetings per month schedule. Ms. Castaneda agreed that an additional meeting would be beneficial. <br /> Mr. Lyons suggested that Mr. Meader make the brochure less than 8-10 pages for ease of reading. Ms. <br /> Dangle agreed that a succinct brochure would be helpful and a system for residents to ask questions. <br /> Mr. Lyons stated that residents should be able to email their questions. <br /> Ms. Sprout asked for a summary of the background in the brochure and then a fuller multi-page <br /> document on the website. Mr. Meader stated that at the end of the Operational document/brochure is <br /> a check list.The rest of the brochure is supporting documentation for the check list document. Chair <br /> Harris stated that there is mention of the Sewer Commission all throughout the documents and she <br /> asked for a copy of it so that the commissioners can become familiar with the language. Mr. Meader <br /> stated that, although this is an Operational document, and does not require a vote, he welcomes the <br /> Commissioner's feedback on it and he would have a revised draft for their review by no later than May <br /> 1, 2025. <br /> Chair's Report <br /> Chair Harris mentioned that voting is May 10, 2025. Early voting April 28-May 2, 2025, and there are <br /> several water articles that need support. Chair Harris also mentioned that the Cape Cod Commission had <br /> already done an enormous amount of work in coming up with the Fresh Water Initiative which talks about <br /> the freshwater across Cape Cod and the difficulties with it. <br /> All the commissioners need to complete the Conflict of Interest training online and sign off on the sexual <br /> harassment. <br /> Chair Harris acknowledged the Wampanoag tribe regarding the wonderful fair called "Honor the Earth" <br /> that had a very interactive children's exhibit. The Mashpee-Wakeby Pond Alliance attended as well as <br /> many of the groups support the environment. On May 3, 2025, at the Tribe Council Building,there will be <br /> another workshop on water and the sea and the Noah Grant Funding, called "Source to Sea". Ms. Fisher <br /> stated that it is a workshop on the Noah Grant Funding that the Town of Mashpee is involved with <br /> Quashnet, Red Brook and Mashpee River. Discussions will be about all three projects. Chair Harris pointed <br /> out that it is important that people understand that there has been a substantial amount of money <br /> afforded to Mashpee for the Town's wetlands,waterways, boat ramps, etc. <br /> Wastewater Superintendent Update <br /> • Installer's Training April 17, 2025, at 5pm at the library. <br /> • Will try to do tours but keep in mind that it is still a construction site (in-house) and, once that <br /> happens, then figuring out how to open it to the public but safely. <br /> • Mashpee TV will be going on Monday,April 19, 2025, to obtain more stock video regarding the <br /> process that has happened. <br /> • Working on the punch list items for the collection system <br /> • Discharge permits for low-income households needs clarification in the permit that it says 5 <br /> milligrams or below for nitrogen credits <br />
