Explanation: Democracy depends on public participation, particularly at the local level. In order to encourage a health, vital society, voters must be not only allowed but invited and encouraged to speak publicly at each and every public meeting held in the Town. Local government depends on listening to the public. This would require all boards, committees, commissions, etc., to place on their agenda a category titled, "Public Comment", and shall further require that any and all who come before them will be given an opportunity to speak at the beginning of each public meeting. The Select Board does not recommend approval of Article 27 by a vote of 5-0 The Finance Committee voted to make no recommendation on Article 27 by a vote of 6-0 Motion made by Select Board Member Sherman Motion: I move the Town vote to indefinitely postpone this article. Motion passes 125 to 17 at 9:35PM Motion to adjourn passes at 9:35PM
