■ Resolution is a non-regulatory,position statement to guide future <br /> regulatory revisions and unify community response <br /> ■ Commissioners are encouraged to review, reflect, and provide feedback on <br /> the draft resolution <br /> ■ Commissioner Thomblugh will email the draft resolution and video <br /> links/timestamps to all commissioners for review before next meeting <br /> ■ The resolution will be placed on the agenda for discussion at the next <br /> meeting (March 6th) <br /> ➢ Ongoing Initiatives for Freshwater Ponds (Commissioner Request) <br /> o Available Resources: Information on freshwater pond management can be found <br /> on the Department of Natural Resources website and the Save Mashpee Wakeby <br /> Pond Alliance website <br /> o Pond Treatments: Ashumet Pond is scheduled for treatment this spring. Town <br /> meeting warrants include plans for alum treatment and the design of an alternative <br /> septic system for Mashpee Wakeby Pond <br /> o Community Involvement: Ongoing efforts from local residents have led to the <br /> formation of the new Freshwater Ponds Committee, which will coordinate <br /> initiatives across various pond group <br /> o Enhancing Collaboration: Inter-Board Cooperation proposal to have liaisons <br /> from various boards, such as the Conservation Commission, actively engage with <br /> the Freshwater Ponds Committee to strengthen collaboration and ensure a unified <br /> approach to pond management <br /> o Representation Needed: Emphasis on the importance of having a designated <br /> representative from the Conservation Commission at committee meetings to <br /> foster communication, provide insights, and support ongoing initiatives <br /> o Milfoil Eradication: Ongoing efforts continue to remove milfoil from local <br /> ponds, with Maine's proactive state program cited as a potential model for future <br /> strategies <br /> o State Involvement: Massachusetts currently lacks a unified state program for <br /> invasive species management, leaving most of the responsibility to towns and <br /> local groups <br /> o Prevention Strategies: Proposal to strengthen enforcement and monitor at boat <br /> landings to limit the spread of invasive species, including potential funding for <br /> staff to support these efforts <br /> ➢ Permit Eyes Software(Agent Request) Tabled <br /> ➢ Regulation 3(A) 6.
