<br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />June 23,2025 <br /> <br />is not equivalent to being unsafe. He raised concerns about potential First Amendment <br />implications and whether the Select Board should have the authority to determine when <br />and where such events occur. <br /> Maryann Murphy thanked the Town Manager for efforts to create clearer policies. As a <br />member of Indivisible, she shared her positive experiences attending several rallies, noting <br />supportive interactions from community members and drivers. She emphasized that <br />rallies, while not world-changing, empower people to speak up. Murphy stressed that <br />safety is a priority for Indivisible, which provides training and safety marshals to ensure <br />peaceful conduct and added that drivers also bear responsibility for maintaining safety. <br />Mary Wagan thanked Richard, Dan, and Maryann for sharing their thoughts. She noted her <br />own experience attending peaceful gatherings at the rotary without incident. She also <br />raised concerns about the health of Waquoit Bay, referencing information shared by <br />Citizens to Save Waquoit Bay. She emphasized that the estuary was once the most <br />productive north of Chesapeake Bay and urged the town to take meaningful action toward <br />its restoration. <br />ADDITIONAL TOPICS <br />LIAISON REPORTS <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson shared that the new Mashpee Chamber of Commerce <br />guidebook is now available. Boston 25 News will be visiting Mashpee on July 27, and they <br />are open to highlighting local stories or initiatives. Suggestions should be submitted by next <br />week. Chair Wyman-Colombo noted the opportunity to coordinate with the Chamber of <br />Commerce. Wayne Taylor added that the Town Manager’s office is in contact with Boston <br />25 and will arrange for someone to speak on behalf of the town. <br />WATER QUALITY UPDATES <br />Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson raised concerns about a recent advisory and the need for a <br />clear, accessible process for posting public signage, noting that not all residents use social <br />media. She emphasized the importance of ensuring public and animal safety. <br />Collins confirmed staff would follow up on the issue. <br />Chair Wyman-Colombo underscored the need to address pollution in Mashpee-Wakeby <br />Pond through an upcoming town warrant and noted ongoing planning for Waquoit Bay. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />
