Select Board
Minutes
June 9,2025

Lynne Barbee of 73 Surf Drive expressed support for progress on a?ordable housing and
interest in potential proposals at Mashpee Commons. She asked whether new development
would connect to the existing wastewater system and requested to participate in a site visit.
Lynn Barbee thanked the Town Manager, who credited Taylor for timely posting of related
information under the Select Board page.

Mary Waygan of 35 Ashumet Road raised concerns about the potential relocation of the
Barnstable Municipal Airport to Mashpee and its impact on water quality, emphasizing the
vulnerability of the Cape’s shared aquifer and the di?iculty of remediation once
contaminated. She noted increasing public pressure in Barnstable for the airport to take
greater environmental responsibility.
LIAISON REPORTS
Selectman Cotton o?ered praise to the Mashpee High School Class of 2025 for their recent
graduation and commended the smooth and well-organized ceremony.
Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson reported that yesterday’s Race Amity event was a lovely
cultural celebration, featuring dancing, live music, and many informational tables.
Chair Wyman-Colombo announced that tomorrow the Director of Federal Funds will be at
4C from 9 to 11 a.m. She encouraged attendance and noted that registration is still open.
WATER QUALITY UPDATES
Chair Wyman-Colombo expressed anticipation for moving forward with the article in
October.
TOWN MANAGER UPDATES
The agenda included discussion of Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC) topics: the proposed
Sandwich Gate closure, the MassDevelopment partnership on a Master Plan, and
Barnstable’s request for a feasibility study regarding a joint military/commercial airport at
JBCC. Selectman Cotton stated, for the record, that due to a potential conflict, he
supports retaining the Sandwich base and opposes the feasibility study and any effort to
move the airport to Mashpee. Town Manager Collins noted a possible tight timeline and
read aloud a related letter about the mass development plan.

Motion made by Selectman Cotton to support the letter to retain the sandwich access gate
to Joint Base Cape Cod.
Motion seconded by Selectman Richardson.

VOTE: 4-0
Roll Call Vote
Selectwoman Wyman-Colombo-yes Selectman Cotton-yes
