aTM <br /> MINUTES OF THE <br /> CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12,2025 <br /> WAQUOIT MEETING ROOM <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> 16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH <br /> MASHPEE, MA 02649 <br /> Meeting was called to order by the Chair at 5:30 PM and convened in open session. <br /> Pledge of Allegiance was recited, followed by a moment of silence. <br /> Present: Rodney Collins, Chair David Weeden, Vice-Chair Don Myers, Clerk <br /> John Miller Darlene Furbush Catherine Lewis <br /> A. Gregory McKelvey Carol Sherman Mary Waygan <br /> Absent: Cathy Lewis <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Wendy Williams, Simons Narrows Road <br /> • Advocated for placing public comments at the beginning of every public meeting. <br /> • Highlighted the absence of such a policy in the current Town Charter. <br /> • Emphasized the historical importance of public comment in New England towns. <br /> • Cited the practice in Sandwich, MA, where public comment is codified at the start of <br /> meetings. <br /> • Requested consideration to include this change in the fall town meeting. <br /> Michael Richardson, Slice Way <br /> • Discussed the distinction between elected and appointed positions in Massachusetts. <br /> • Suggested allowing elected officials to serve as Committee members to address multiple <br /> vacancies. <br /> • Expressed willingness to be more involved upon election. <br /> MINUTES <br /> Review andµMAMovalwwofthe Monday�,,,March 3 2�25 Re8ular-Session Meetin Minutes <br /> Motion by Sherman to approve the March 3, 2025 minutes. <br /> Motion seconded by McKelvey. <br /> Roll Call Vote: 8-0(Unanimous) <br />
