The public hearing notice was read into the record by Mr. McKelvey. Speakers presented their comments as follows: Speaker: Terrie Cook, Angelos Way • Sought clarification on the revision to Section 6.3 regarding budget publication. • Concerned that current wording implies publishing the entire budget in the newspaper, which is cost-prohibitive. • Suggested modifying the Charter language to accurately reflect this intention. Speaker: Lynne Barbee, Surf Drive • Commended the Committee for creating and including a preamble in the Charter. Speaker: Edward Larkin, Wheeler Road • Raised questions about how the preamble and other amendments were categorized (amendment vs. addition). • Stressed the importance of accurate terminology for legal and procedural clarity. Speaker: Michaela Wyman-Colombo, Meadowbrook Road • Praised the Committee's collaborative efforts and the inclusion of the preamble. Speaker: Don Myers • Urged the Committee to ensure consistency in formatting, such as indentations and text styling. Multiple speakers expressed support for the proposed changes to the Town Charter, praised the Committee's hard work, and expressed gratitude for the inclusion of historical elements. Before closing the public hearing, the Chair advised the public and the Committee that he had been advised by legal counsel that these proposed Charter amendments would have to be voted on in May of 2026 and; therefore, the Articles could be held over to the October 2025 Town Meeting. Motion made by Sherman to close the Public Hearing at 6:25 PM. Motion seconded by Furbush. Roll Call Vote: 8-0 (Unanimous)
