Miller,yes Collins,yes Weeden,yes <br /> Furbush,yes McKelvey,yes Myers,yes <br /> Sherman,yes Waygan,yes <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1. 5:35 Public Hearin Pro osed Chan es t o the Mash ee Charter for Possible Inclusion on the <br /> _.. __ .. <br /> .Ay 2025 Annual Town Meetin Warrant. <br /> The public hearing notice was read into the record by Mr. McKelvey. <br /> Speakers presented their comments as follows: <br /> Speaker: Terrie Cook, Angelos Way <br /> • Sought clarification on the revision to Section 6.3 regarding budget publication. <br /> • Concerned that current wording implies publishing the entire budget in the newspaper, <br /> which is cost-prohibitive. <br /> • Suggested modifying the Charter language to accurately reflect this intention. <br /> Speaker: Lynne Barbee, Surf Drive <br /> • Commended the Committee for creating and including a preamble in the Charter. <br /> Speaker: Edward Larkin, Wheeler Road <br /> • Raised questions about how the preamble and other amendments were categorized <br /> (amendment vs. addition). <br /> • Stressed the importance of accurate terminology for legal and procedural clarity. <br /> Speaker: Michaela Wyman-Colombo, Meadowbrook Road <br /> • Praised the Committee's collaborative efforts and the inclusion of the preamble. <br /> Speaker: Don Myers <br /> • Urged the Committee to ensure consistency in formatting, such as indentations and text <br /> styling. <br /> Multiple speakers expressed support for the proposed changes to the Town Charter, praised the <br /> Committee's hard work, and expressed gratitude for the inclusion of historical elements. <br /> Before closing the public hearing, the Chair advised the public and the Committee that he had <br /> been advised by legal counsel that these proposed Charter amendments would have to be voted <br /> on in May of 2026 and; therefore, the Articles could be held over to the October 2025 Town <br /> Meeting. <br /> Motion made by Sherman to close the Public Hearing at 6:25 PM. <br /> Motion seconded by Furbush. <br /> Roll Call Vote: 8-0 (Unanimous) <br />
