Select Board
Minutes
July 14,2025

and Customs Enforcement (ICE) o?icials. He clarified that the Mashpee Police Department
does not take individuals into custody solely based on immigration status. Furthermore,
any person arrested locally will not experience delays in the bail process due to their
immigration status. This policy aligns with the 2017 Commonwealth v. Lunn decision and
remains in e?ect, except in cases involving a judicially issued federal arrest warrant. Given
the absence of any recent incidents involving ICE, the Town Manager recommended that no
action be taken at this time. He emphasized that all individuals in need of assistance
should feel confident in reaching out to local first responders. Upon hearing this, the Select
Board agreed and took no action.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Phyllis Sprout, Brandon Edsall, Erich Horgan, and Rene Panni—local volunteers—shared
concerns regarding the integrity of the 2024 voter election, referencing critical state
information. They called for greater understanding, public support, and meaningful action
to address what they view as ongoing inaccuracies and uncertainties in the electoral
process.
The group advocates for a resolution to ensure a legally valid, free, and fair 2026 general
election. They emphasized that election o?icials bear the responsibility of maintaining the
accuracy and integrity of elections, free from manipulation, and in compliance with all
federal and state laws. Key priorities include maintaining accurate voter rolls to ensure only
eligible citizens are registered, preventing the inclusion of fictitious names or non-citizens,
and ensuring that only votes cast by eligible voters are counted. They also stressed that the
number of votes counted must match the number of participating voters. The group
expressed concern that the current election system is failing to deliver accurate and
transparent results, warning that continued inaction poses a serious threat to public trust,
national dignity, and the democratic process.
Arden Russell, a local resident of Gunters Lane, voiced strong opposition to the proposed
use of 0 Gunters Lane for wastewater purposes. During her remarks, Russell read aloud
from the property deed, which she stated designates the land as open space that is not to
be developed for residential use. She emphasized her concerns about preserving the
intended purpose of the land and maintaining its current status.
ADDITIONAL TOPICS
(This space is reserved for topics that the Chair did not reasonably anticipate would be
discussed)
