Marie Stevenson, Winnie Johnson-Graham, Gail Wilson, Richard Klein, Mohamad Zefzaf, Ayesha Shafi, Dan Kupferman, Mohamad Fand, Aimen Igbal Also Present: Brian Weeden- School Committee, Ryan Nardone- Mashpee Police Dept., Theresa & Richard Donovan, Max Nash- Student Representative, Fernanda Lima— Student Representative, Clara Bryant— Parent with SEMAC, Courtney Schneeweiss—ELPAC, Lauren Surbey- Mashpee Enterprise, Lilian Lewis— Student Representative Absent: Kim Landry, Rolf Brandt CALL TO ORDER Chair Stevenson called the meeting of the Mashpee Inclusion and Diversity Committee to order at 5:OOP.M. LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Today we acknowledge this meeting is being held on ancestral lands of the Wampanoag Tribe, also known as People of the First Light. We pay respects to their elders, past and present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES —April 15, 2025 MOTION: Mohamad Zefzaf made a motion to accept the meeting minutes for April 15, 2025 as presented. Seconded by Richard Klein. All in favor. PUBLIC COMMENT Marie Stevenson-She has been involved with DEI for many years, lately being particularly discouraging with dispersions of the work being done. From her perspective, she is heartened by the Town of Mashpee, and she sees hope. The work of organized committees and groups is crucial for communities. When we have more diversity, it becomes more approachable, socially accessible, increases innovations and creativity, along with strategic thinking. It fosters the inclusion of new voices, engages marginalized communities, and becomes more welcoming. She is heartened by the Select Board with differences represented through age, gender, ethnicity, and education. OLD BUSINESS 1
