Staffing
A new part-time assistant joined the upstairs staff, and a part-time youth services staff started
in the Children’s Room. Interviews are ongoing.

IT/Technology
Extra precautionary security implementations have caused some disruptions. The public
wireless went out for a week which left the public access computers out of use. The app that
unlocks/locks the doors was not working on the Wi-Fi.

CLAMS
The Library Director is attending Zoom meetings in April and May to discuss the balancing and
maintaining of the library’s daily functions, on a state and national level. The next meeting is
th
May 28 at the Centerville Library, to see where we are at operationally, and the status of the
reserves. The FY26 budget outcome was positive, and we are maintaining FY25 numbers.

Building and Grounds
The Library Director met with the DPW to review various requests on the docket. The
children’s garden area will require the most immediate attention. The fence will be taken down
and all bricks will be removed. All vegetation will be mowed, the tree will remain, grass will be
planted, and the benches will temporarily relocate.

The sidewalk will remain from the children’s door for walkability and safety. The fire egress will
require pruning and cutting back trees. The trellises are going to be power washed, and the
siding will be re-shingled. There will be some raised flower beds or a vegetable garden the kids
can help plant. The statue will be relocated to the far side of the parking lot.

The Friends asked if they could donate a fence. The Friends will purchase the shed. The shed
will be supported with concrete blocks.

The picnic table area is overgrown with dead plants. Mobile planters are more manageable
and can provide seasonable landscapes. Adirondack chairs may be a nice addition.

The circulation desk is still a priority item, but the Friends would like to see the Children’s
Room completed.

Children’s Room
The Children’s Room will be closed for a week for new carpeting and painting. That would also
be the time to swap out furniture. The Library Director would like more mobile shelving. New
tables and area rugs will be purchased for the program room.

TRUSTEE CHAIR’S REPORT
MOTION:
2
