,yrxrasr.a
Town of Mashpee Community Preservation Commission
" 16 Great Neck Road North
° Mashpee, MA 02649
Several members stressed that the town should not move forward in a piecemeal fashion but should
instead undertake a thoughtful visioning process. To achieve this, the Committee agreed it would be
beneficial to hire an outside planning consultant, funded through the CPC's administrative account, to
guide the process. This consultant could coordinate input from Recreation, DPW, Conservation, and
other relevant stakeholders, ensuring that all potential uses were fully evaluated before a decision was
made.
The Committee voted in favor of this approach and designated member Ms. Wyman-Colombo to bring
the proposal forward to the Select Board for their consideration and input.
ADMINISTRATIVE UPDATES
Several administrative matters were reviewed:
• Recording Secretary Vacancy: Members were informed that Kathy Soares had left her position
as CPC recording secretary. The Committee discussed the immediate need for interim support
while also recognizing the importance of hiring a permanent replacement. It was agreed that a
new job description should be developed in consultation with HR to better reflect the scope of
responsibilities, particularly given the importance of accurate recordkeeping for CPC.
• Meeting Schedule: The Committee reviewed its upcoming meeting dates. In order to avoid
conflicts with other boards and to provide consistency for members and the public, the
Committee voted to establish a regular schedule. Meetings were scheduled for April 29, 2025,
and May 20, 2025. Beginning in June, the Committee will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each
month, with the first such meeting set for June 22, 2025.
• Application Deadlines: To ensure greater predictability for applicants and to streamline CPC's
workflow, the Committee voted to standardize submission deadlines.Applications will now be
due on the first Friday of April and the first Friday of November each year. Members felt this
change would allow for better planning and review, as well as clearer communication to
community groups seeking CPC funding.
• Recording of Meetings: In the interest of transparency and public engagement, the Committee
voted to allocate 51,200 to Mashpee TV to record and broadcast CPC meetings. Members
agreed this was an important step in ensuring residents remain informed about the Committee's
work and decisions.
PROJECT LIASONS
The Committee discussed the importance of maintaining oversight of ongoing CPC-funded projects.
Members agreed that regular monitoring would help ensure accountability, allow for early identification
of any challenges, and provide useful updates to the public.
Assignments were made for members to serve as liaisons to specific projects, including Heritage Park,
the Boat Ramp, and the Boys & Girls Club, among others. Each liaison will be responsible for staying
