4 Community Preservation Committee Minutes October 17, 2024 Update on the Acquisition of Pickerel Cove Properties previously approved: A draft Purchase & Sale Agreement has been prepared by Town Counsel and presented to the owners of the Pickerel Cove Properties, a project previously approved. Currently, there has been no communication. However, it was noted the owners are preparing a draft Conservation Restriction (CR) as there is a two-year backlog to obtain the state written document. Application Deadline for Spring Town Meeting: The CPC Application deadline for the May 2025 Town Meeting has been revised to Monday, November 4, 2024. The timeline requirement for the submission of articles for the May warrant is Monday, February 10, 2024. LIAISON REPORTS LeClair Village: The ribbon cutting ceremony was well attended. Affordable Housing: A brief discussion followed regarding the potential to purchase existing property for affordable housing purposes. Applications for May Town Meeting: Applications received to date include; A new war memorial, the moving of the Chopchaque bog-house/barn, and a basketball reconstruction project submitted by the Boys & Girls Club. EXECUTIVE SESSION Discussion regarding Gooseberry Island: Motion made by Ms. Waygan to enter into Executive Session at 7:20 p.m. to consider the purchase, lease or value of real property; Gooseberry Island bounded on all sides of Popponesset Bay as shown on Assessors’ Map 100 as Block 6 pursuant to G.L. c. 30A section 21(a)(6) with the Chair having declared that an open meeting regarding this topic may have a detrimental effect on the negotiating position of the CPC, and to reconvene thereafter. Motion seconded by Mrs. MacDonald. VOTE: 8-0. Unanimous.
