o.0 of a
O'W1'L of wlashpee -Afforda6Ce Housina Committee
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, -Alassachusetts 02649
articles, new membership, a charter, administrative costs, annual costs for filings, etc. There
was some positive feedback and willingness to look into the legalities. He would like to reach
out to Falmouth and follow up next time.
The Chair asked if the Affordable Housing Trust should consider asking for an annual donation
from the Town in the amount of $500,000 a year. The Trust owns 209 Old Barnstable Road and
has $750,000 in funds. Twice in the past the CPC has allocated $330,000 in yearly
installments of$110,000 to the Trust. They may have stopped due to no specified purpose
being named. He would like to draft a request to the CPC for some type of annual installment
over a period of three years. Select Board member Colombo offered to assist in writing that.
The Trust is now going to meet quarterly as there is significant progress to be made.
Lynne Barbee-The CPC has allocated money to the Trust that has just been sitting there. The
last time there was a discussion about this within the CPC, part of the reaction was that the
Affordable Housing Trust needs to meet, the entity never meets, therefore cannot make
decisions. The CPC has been urging the Trust to meet. She noted the Chair of the CPC has
made a blank application accessible on the Town of Mashpee website. The November
deadline is for the May Town Meeting, as it takes time for a proposal to finalize. The CPC is
always looking for Affordable Housing projects. What makes it particularly difficult is there is no
staff person assigned to affordable housing efforts, that is something the CPC could do, is fund
a staff person.
ADJOURNMENT
MOTION:
Ms. Geoffrion made a motion to adjourn the meeting of the Affordable Housing
Committee at 8:04PM. Seconded by Ms. Muller. All in favor.
Respectfully Submitted
Christine M. MacDonald
Board Secretary
5
