Select Board
Minutes
August 11,2025
A public hearing was held to review an application submitted by Bourne Petroleum
regardingan increase in on-site fuel tank capacity at 135 Main Street, Mashpee, MA02649.
The applicant is requestingto increase their current licensed capacity of on-site fuel tanks
from 18,000 gallons to a total of 28,000 gallons, combining both gasoline and diesel.
The existing tanks are outdated and consist of a combination of steel and fiberglass.
The applicant intends to replace these with modern, double-walled fiberglass tanks, which
meet current safety standards.
Several reasonswere presented forthe requested increase. Dueto the non-
standard sizes of the existing tanks, the business is often forced to take partialfuel
deliveries throughoutthe year. This inefficiency affects operations and pricing. Additionally,
Bourne Petroleum is seeking to add off-road diesel to better serve customers who use
heating oil or operate farm equipment.
The Fire Chief has reviewed and signed off on the proposed changes.
Motion made by Selectman Cotton to close public the hearing.
Motion seconded by Selectman Richardson.
Vote: 5-0 Unanimous
Roll Call Vote
Selectwoman Wyman-Colombo-yes
Selectman Weeden-yes
Selectman Cotton-yes
Selectwoman Kelley-Wilson-yes
Selectman Richardson-yes
Motion made by Selectman Weeden to approve the application to increase on site fuel
tank capacity at 135 Main Street from 18,000 gallons to 28,000 gallons.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton.
Vote: 5-0 Unanimous
Roll Call Vote
Selectwoman Wyman-Colombo-yes
