,yrxrasr.a
Town of Mashpee Community Preservation Commission
" 16 Great Neck Road North
° Mashpee, MA 02649
Project Closure: Quashnet School Playground Phase Two
The second project discussed was the Quashnet School Playground improvements, which included new
cushioned pads under swings and pickleball courts uphill from the main playground. The project,
completed with DPW labor contributions, totaled $316,101.40 in materials costs. Because DPW labor
was not charged, the project saved substantially on expenses. An unexpended balance of$61,978.60
will be returned to its funding category. The committee approved the closure of the project
unanimously.
MOTION: To close out Quashnet School Playground Improvements Phase II project and return the
$61,978.60 to the category from which it came from.
Motion by: Judy MacDougall Seconded by: Mary Waygan
Vote: Motion passed by unanimous vote.
Liaison Reports:
HERITAGE PARK
Heritage Park's concession stand(according to Mary Bradbury)has been finished and is already in use,
with contributions from parents and rental income helping to support the project. Members praised the
facility, calling it a valuable addition for the school and community.
There was also clarification about CPC project costs: while DPW provides labor free of charge for
certain aspects, other services such as paving and legal fees are not included, and those expenses are
still billed to the projects.
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB
The Boys and Girls Club basketball court has been completed, though striping and fencing are still
pending. Work had to be scheduled carefully to avoid interfering with children's programs.
MASHPEE BOAT RAMP
Regarding the Mashpee Boat Ramp, the project is still awaiting full funding, part of which must come
from state grants. Committee members noted uncertainty about whether all necessary state support has
been secured.
PARSONAGE RESTORATION
The Parsonage project has made progress, with contractors now selected and contracts under legal
review. Although it took significant time to identify qualified experts, stakeholders are optimistic about
moving forward. The restoration work, given the building's historic nature, requires specialized design
and construction expertise.
8
