MASHPEE CULTURAL COUNCIL <br /> MINUTES .IULY 24, 2025,2 P.M. <br /> MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER, CONFERENCE ROOM <br /> PRESENT: Wendy Bornstein, Pamela Joseph, Celeste Kramer, Alison Machado, Diane Scott, <br /> Lee Smith, Rochelle St. John, Janet Wright. Not present: Dianne Brace. <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair L. Smith at 2:03 P.M. A quorum was determined to be <br /> present. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 14,2024 <br /> The minutes of the meeting of November 14, 2024 were unanimously APPR.OVE,'D on motion <br /> by W. Bornstein, seconded by D. Scott. <br /> TREASURER'S REPORT <br /> Wendy Bornstein reported that of the $6825 grant funds approved in 2024, $4275 in grants have <br /> been reimbursed, and $2550 in grant funds have not yet been reimbursed. There is a balance of <br /> $192 in cash for administrative expenses. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> No old business was brought forward, <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Review and Update Local Guidelines and Priorities <br /> Members reviewed the current Local Guidelines and Priorities, which need to be updated <br /> annually by August 31, 2025. The council members adopted the suggestion of Dianne Brace to <br /> add a preface to the current guidelines. After discussion, it was proposed to add the following to <br /> the guidelines on our websi.te: <br /> "Mashpee is proud to celebrate and support the artists and arts and humanities organizations that <br /> make up the cultural fabric of our community. The Mashpce Cultural Council is part of a <br /> network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. <br /> The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting <br /> thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities every year. The <br /> state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state <br /> agency, which then allocates funds to each community." <br /> On motion by L. Smith, seconded by C. Kramer, it was unanimously voted to adopt the <br /> forgoing introduction to the current Local Guidelines and Priorities. <br />
