Schedule for 2025 Grant Cycle
Chair L. Smith noted that the period for submitting grant applications runs from September 1,
2025 through mid-October. A set of the applications will be provided to council members by the
Massachusetts Cultural Council . A meeting of the Mashpec Cultural Council was scheduled for
Monday, November 17, 2025 from 9 AM to 12 noon to review and make decisions on the grant
applications. A backup date of Thursday,November 20, 2025 at 9 AM was scheduled in case we
are unable tofinish making decisions on the grants. If an applicant appeals a denial, we will hold
a meeting on Friday, December 12 at 9 AM to review the decision.
"Mashpee Night Out" Volunteers
Several council members volunteered to attend "Mashpee Night Out" on August 6, 2025, from
5:30 to 7:30 PM to help educate the public about the activities of the Council. D. Scott showed
the council members giveaway items that she purchased including bracelets, paper airplanes, and
rubber ducks which will help attract attention to our table. The purchase of these items will be
reimbursed from our administrative funds.
Discussion of Ideas for Creating Awareness of MCC
Chair L. Smith stated that a Citizen Survey, which is intended to elicit community member input
about what arts and culture programs community members would like to see funded, was done
last year. Since we are only required to perform the survey every two years, it will not be
necessary to do the survey this year.
Council members discussed reprinting the current MCC brochure. It was proposed that the
section with the link to an online survey be blanked out before reprinting because the online
survey is out of date. L. Smith will make arrangements to reprint the brochure, and it will will be
distributed at Mashpee Night Out.
Other ideas for creating awareness of the council's activities were discussed, such as possible
inclusion in the annual Chamber of Commerce brochure, and coordination with other local
cultural councils.
ADJOURNMENT
On motion by Pamela Joseph, seconded by Diane Scott, it was unanimously voted to adjourn.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:14 P.M.
respectfully i let td--,-
Pamela Joseph, Secretary
